Every 10 seconds, you become your own problem.

You are Intern #7 at Rerun Labs, testing the Backup Blaster 3000: a gun that saves a backup of you every 10 seconds. Known issue: the backups are hostile.

  • Play for 10 seconds. Run, jump, shoot.
  • Tick. The tape rewinds and a ghost of you replays those exact 10 seconds. Forever.
  • Plan your past. Your past selves hold buttons, become stairs and shoot targets for you. They also shoot you.

What's inside

  • 9 test chambers, ending in a boss fight against Professor Mole, Head of Chemistry.
  • Real chemistry: buttons are atoms, and doors open only for the exact molecule (H₂, H₂O, NaCl…). Make H₂O₂ by accident and your hair gets bleached. Sodium next to water goes boom.
  • Rogue molecules: HCl drips acid, chlorine gas sinks to the floor, hydrogen explodes when shot.
  • A Compliance Drone that learns where you stand around, and a helium past self you can ride like a balloon.
  • Past selves that talk, argue and get judged: Lazy Me, Trigger-Happy Me, Responsible Me and five more. Every death gets an obituary, every chamber a Performance Review.
  • Each level teaches a thinking skill (planning ahead, scheduling, misdirection) and a real chemistry fact. Stuck? HR sends a hint after two tries.

How we used DreamLayer

Every picture in the game was made with the DreamLayer API: 25 calls, 30.6 credits, 24 of the 25 images used.

  • 1 hero reference → 4 poses and an 8-frame run cycle (sprite-sheet beta).
  • The same reference → 8 past-self portraits, one per personality.
  • 1 lab style frame → 4 more rooms and the Refund Desk ending, all image-to-image with the same camera.
  • Title art, props, the Compliance Drone and Professor Mole.

Level tiles and the interface are drawn in code to match. Every prompt, reference and credit is logged in the project's DreamLayer log.
